Mass Settings 1

Information from repertoire sharing afternoon,
St Joseph's, Pudsey, 7/10/12,

On this page, links will open in a new browser window.

More than a dozen of us took part, from parishes in Bradford, Huddersfield, Leeds and Wakefield. The main focus was alternative hymns to 'old favourites' for Offertory and the Eucharist. Towards the end of the afternoon, we surveyed the Mass settings our parishes used, and I have included a list, with links so you can hear them on YouTube (or wherever), and find more information/where to buy etc.

1) Storrington (Marty Haugen)

' The Storrington Mass is a new setting by Marty, written for a Norbertine community, Our Lady of England, in Storrington, England. This setting has been "test-driven"(and gone through a number of revisions) for the past two years, both with theOur Lady of England community and in numerous workshops. This setting was written specifically for the new texts of the liturgy, and is intended to respond to a variety of community needs.
While the setting will be published with parts for keyboard, guitar, bass, woodwinds, brass, handbells and tympani, it can be easily be sung a capella. It was a joy for Marty to have the opportunity to be able to try out this setting for two years before its publication. He is confident that the revisions during this period have ensured that this setting will have a good life.
Editions: Choral & Accompaniment / Full Score / Presider / Guitar / Woodwinds / Brass Quartet & Tympani / Handbells / CD'
